DESTINY ISLA NAVARINO

Nature is undoubtedly imposed on Navarino Island, so much so that in 2005 it was declared by UNESCO as part of the Cabo de Hornos Biosphere Reserve.

In addition, the first patrimonial route of the Ministry of National Assets was born here, which in 2001 sought to recognize, value and make available to people the heritage associated with the diversity of territories and ways of living in Chile.

The roads and trails of Navarino Island constitute a unique tour at the end of the world and the American continent. These scratch and imposing geology carved by glaciations over two million years, a segmented landscape where sea and land meet towards the meeting of the Pacific, Atlantic and Antarctic oceans.

TIPS

Always follow the instructions of park rangers so you may enjoy your trip: do not use fire in unauthorized places and do not go out from demarked trails to avoid accidents.

Before your trip, you must have in mind the clothing that you’re going to pack because Patagonia is very cold and extremely windy, warm clothes are fundamental.

You must bring a heavy jacket (hopefully with newborn lamb skin), waterproof pants, wool caps, a fleece and thermal gloves, windbreaker, trekking shoes, comfortable shoes for resting, boots, sunglasses and sunscreen. Do not forget t-shirts and lightweight shoes for sunny days, the best thing you can do is to wear layers of clothing.

This is a piece of advice for those that are planning backpacking: having Patagonia a very changing weather, it’s very likely that while enjoying landscapes or in the middle of a trekking, you experience rain and strong winds, try to travel with sleeping bag, a tent, camping and hiking suitable equipment. You can rent it near the parks, but it will cost you a lot.
