In Tierra del Fuego the typical dish is the Patagonian Style Lamb Barbecue that you can find in restaurants and specially in the Patagonian Estancias (Patagonian ranches) and of course the King Crab.

While in Puerto Williams in Navarino Island, the must is tasting a fresh King Crab, very easy to find as in it costs is where usually is captured, we also recommend the fresh white wild fishe like southern hake and conger.

TIPS

You must consider that even though stores are opened all day, some stores in rural locations take a break for lunch between 1:00 and 3:00 PM.

We also recommend bringing Chilean pesos, most of all for buying basic needs. Some stores accept credit and debit cards but it is not common in all of them.

Remember to always bring cash, Banks and ATMs are not everywhere in Patagonia. In Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales you can find both of them, if you go to Tierra del Fuego, in Porvenir you can find an ATM.

There are stores that accept credit card, but we always recommend having Chilean pesos because some rural areas or hostels may not accept this type of payment.
